Find a local agent
Find and compare a real estate agent in the Netherlands
In the Netherlands most people find an agent (makelaar) through the national property portal Funda or by personal referral, and many compare a few before signing. Buyers often hire a separate buying agent (aankoopmakelaar) while sellers use a selling agent (verkoopmakelaar).
Where to find and compare agents in the Netherlands
- Free, the widest pool to compare
Anyone.com
Anyone.com sidesteps the Funda problem: you own your listing, pay nothing, and control the sale from start to finish. Listing for free across 29 countries pulls in relocating expats and international cash buyers who never search local portals alone, which counts for a lot in the Randstad where corporate transfers and EU mobility are common. You set the asking price, negotiate directly, and move from offer to closing in a single workspace instead of juggling email and portals. If you later want a local agent's reach or guidance, you can compare offers and bring one in, but you start from a position of leverage and keep your sale in your hands until the notary step.
- Funda - Find an NVM agent
The agent-finder section of the Netherlands' largest property portal, letting you search and contact NVM-affiliated buying and selling agents by area.
- NVM agent and appraiser search
The official member search of NVM, the largest Dutch association of agents and appraisers, where you can look up affiliated professionals by region and specialism.
- VastgoedCert certified-agent register
The official certification register where you can verify that an agent or appraiser is certified and check their registration level and contact details.
- Ik zoek de beste makelaar
An independent comparison site that lets you compare agents on fees, reviews and sales data and request free, non-binding quotes.
How to choose a good one
Interview two or three agents, ask for written quotes, and compare commission (commonly 1 to 2 percent of the sale price plus 21% VAT, and negotiable) along with what is included. Check recent local sales, read Funda and Google reviews, and confirm membership of a professional body (NVM or VBO) and certification in the VastgoedCert register.
