Our privacy note, in plain words

The short version

We do not run ads, we do not use third-party trackers that identify you, and we never sell or share your data. The calculators on this site run entirely in your browser and send nothing to us. The one exception is the checklist download, described below.

What we collect, and only if you ask

When you ask us to send you the FSBO prep checklist, we store the email address you enter and the country you select, along with the time of the request, the IP address, and the browser user-agent string it came from, which are basic measures against abuse. That is the entire list. We do not ask for your name, your address, or anything about your property.

What we use it for

Only to deliver that checklist. We do not add you to a mailing list, we send no marketing, and we do not pass your email to anyone else. If that ever changes, we will ask for your clear permission first, and this page will say so before it does.

The legal basis

For readers in the EU, EEA, and UK: we rely on your consent to store your email address and send you the checklist (you give it by entering your address and asking us to send it), and on our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure to log the request time, IP address, and user-agent for abuse prevention. You can withdraw consent at any time by asking us to delete your email.

Where it is stored and how long

Your email is stored on our own server, not a third-party marketing platform, and we do not share it with anyone. We keep it only as long as needed to run the checklist service and guard against abuse, and we delete it within 12 months at the latest, or sooner if you ask. The anti-abuse log (time, IP, user-agent) is kept for a short period and then cleared.

Your rights, and deleting your data

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or send it to you in a portable form. Email editors@bestfsboguide.com and we will act on it, free of charge. If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data-protection supervisory authority, though we hope you would tell us first so we can put it right.

Everything else

No display ads, no pay-per-click, no analytics that build a profile of you. We do keep a simple, aggregate count of how often visitors click our call-to-action buttons through to a recommended tool, and which of the third-party sites we list (such as local property portals and agent directories) readers click through to, recorded on our own server with no cookie and no third party, so we can see what readers find useful; it is a tally, not a profile of you. The tools store their inputs only in your own browser, on your own device, and you can clear them anytime. When we point you to a tool, it is because it genuinely helps, never because we are paid to.
