About
How BestFSBOGuide.com works
BestFSBOGuide.com exists to make selling your home or buying your next one without an agent something an ordinary person can actually do, with the facts and the sources in plain sight.
What we are
BestFSBOGuide.com is an independent reference, not a brokerage and not a listing service. We do not take your listing, hold your money, or represent you in a deal. We explain how the process works, step by step, for selling for sale by owner and for buying as an unrepresented buyer, and we point you to the official rules that govern each step.
Real estate is a field full of advice with a motive behind it. An agent has a reason to tell you that selling on your own is too hard. A listing service has a reason to push its premium tier. We are trying to be the page that just tells you how it works and what it costs, so you can decide for yourself.
How we stay accurate
Every page carries a named contributor and a named fact-checker, and we trace every legal, tax, or money claim to a primary source, usually a government, court, or registry page. Generally, if we cannot source a claim, we do not publish it. Each page shows the date it was last reviewed, and we re-check pages when a rule, a fee, or a tax threshold changes. Our editorial standards spell out the rules we hold ourselves to, and the source library lists what we rely on.
Why this is free
This site does not run on ads, sponsorships, pay-per-click, or your data. It is free because the point is to spread good, honest information about selling your home yourself, not to profit from it. We are not an agent, a broker, or owned by any platform, so nothing we say is bent to sell you something.
When we recommend a platform in a country, it is on the merits: its cost, its features and technology, how easy it is to use, and the reach it gives a seller. We hold no affiliate, referral, or commission relationship with any platform we name, anywhere, and our outbound links carry no referral codes or tracking parameters, which you can verify by inspecting any link on the site. We do log clicks on those links with a first-party, cookieless counter on our own server, so we can see which recommendations readers actually use; nothing is sent to the destination or any other third party. If that ever changes, this page says so first.
When we point you to a tool, it is because it genuinely fits the job, and we say plainly where it does not. If a free or simpler option is better, we tell you. That is the whole deal.
Keeping the site free
The site is free to read, and running it still costs money: web hosting and the domain, the monthly data refresh that keeps the commission and cost figures current across 40 countries, and the hours that go into checking every legal, tax, and money claim against a primary source. Reader support helps cover those costs and keep the site free of ads, paywalls, and paid placements.
If a guide here saved you money, or an afternoon of confusion, and you would like to keep it free for the next person, you can support it on Ko-fi. Support is optional and can be one time or monthly. It goes toward the site's running costs, and it buys no influence over what we recommend, because the recommendations are not for sale in the first place. Everything here stays free to read either way.

What we do not do
We run no display ads and no pay-per-click. We do not take payment to rank a platform higher, and we do not publish sponsored posts dressed up as advice. You can read the whole site collecting nothing: the calculators run entirely in your browser and store nothing on a server. The one thing we ask for is an email, and only if you want the prep checklist sent to you as a PDF. We use it to deliver that and nothing else, never sell it, and delete it on request. Our privacy note spells this out. If any of that ever changes, this page changes first.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix the page and update the review date at the top of it. A correction to a legal, tax, or money claim is made as soon as we can confirm the right answer against the primary source. If you have spotted one, the fastest way to get it fixed is to email us the page and the source that contradicts it.
The team
Who writes this
BestFSBOGuide's country and market coverage is written and source-checked by a research editor for each region: Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, and Africa. Each works from that region's own registries, tax authorities, and notary or legal rules, and every legal, tax, and money claim is traced to a primary source before it publishes. Our general how-to guides are written by Daniel Reyes, the site's editor, on the same standard. Every page names its author and the date it was last reviewed, and how we research sets out the standards in full. Daniel Reyes edits the site, reviews what publishes, and is the named person responsible for it; you can reach us through the contact address below.

Common questions about this guide
Is this guide really free to use?
Yes. You can read the whole site without paying or signing up. It does not run on ads, sponsorships, pay-per-click, or your data. The calculators run entirely in your browser and store nothing on a server.
How is the site funded if there are no ads?
It is not run for profit. The point is to spread honest information about selling your home yourself, not to earn from it. The site runs no display ads, no pay-per-click, and publishes no sponsored posts dressed up as advice.
Are there affiliate links or paid placements in the recommendations?
No. The site holds no affiliate, referral, or commission relationship with any platform it names, anywhere. Outbound links carry no referral codes or tracking parameters, which you can verify by inspecting any link. No payment is taken to rank a platform higher.
Is the site independent of agents and listing platforms?
Yes. It is an independent reference, not a brokerage or listing service, and is not owned by any platform. Platforms are recommended on their merits: cost, features, ease of use, and the reach they give a seller.
Who writes the guides and who checks them?
Our country and market coverage is written and source-checked by a research editor for each region, Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, and Africa, and our general how-to guides are written by Daniel Reyes, the site editor. Every legal, tax, and money claim is traced to a primary source before it publishes, and a named fact-checker stands behind each page. Every page names its author and shows the date it was last reviewed.
How are mistakes corrected?
When something is wrong, the page is fixed and the review date at the top is updated. A correction to a legal, tax, or money claim is made once the right answer is confirmed against the primary source. You can email a correction with the page and the contradicting source.
