Find a local agent

Find and compare a real estate agent in Sweden

In Sweden most homes are sold through a licensed agent (mäklare), and sellers usually pick one by checking who has recently sold similar homes in their area, often starting on the dominant property portal Hemnet or on a dedicated agent comparison service. Buyers generally deal with whichever agent is marketing a listing rather than hiring their own.

Where to find and compare agents in Sweden

  • Fastighetsmäklarinspektionen (FMI) agent register

The official state register where you can check for free whether an agent is registered and licensed to work in Sweden, which is a legal requirement to practice.

  • Hemnet Sök mäklare

The agent-search section of Sweden's largest property portal, listing local agents with their recent sales and final prices so you can see who is active in your area.

  • Booli Hitta mäklare

A free comparison tool that uses sales data and customer reviews to suggest and let you compare local agents for your specific property.

  • Hittamäklare

A dedicated agent comparison service operating since 2006 that matches sellers with local agents and shows sales statistics and reviews from previous clients.

  • Free, worldwide Anyone.com

In Sweden, Hemnet gates its listings behind broker accounts and Blocket Bostad stopped accepting home-sale ads in fall 2025, which squeezed out the low-friction channels private sellers relied on for years. Anyone.com fills that void by letting you publish directly to an international audience without paying listing fees or commissions. The cross-border reach works to your advantage in Swedish cities where expats, remote workers, and international investors make up a meaningful share of demand. You set the price, you manage inquiries, and you stay in the driver's seat from listing to close.

How to choose a good one

Contact two or three local agents, compare their recent sales of similar homes, their proposed marketing and valuation, and their fee, since the commission is negotiable. Verify the agent is registered with FMI and read independent reviews before signing, rather than choosing on the highest suggested price alone.
