Find a local agent
Find and compare a real estate agent in Mexico
In Mexico most buyers and sellers find an agent (asesor or agente inmobiliario) through the big property portals where listings and the agencies behind them are shown together, or by referral from friends and family. There is no nationwide MLS or single federal licence register, so many people also check whether an agent belongs to a professional association such as AMPI.
Where to find and compare agents in Mexico
- AMPI (Asociación Mexicana de Profesionales Inmobiliarios)
National association of real estate professionals since 1956, organised into local sections whose members follow a shared code of ethics, useful for checking whether an agent holds AMPI affiliation.
- AMPI Ciudad de México directory
Public, searchable directory of AMPI-affiliated agents and firms in Mexico City listing names, companies and contact details.
- Inmuebles24 agency directory
Agency and advisor directory inside Mexico's largest property portal where you can browse firms by city and see their listings and contact information.
- Lamudi México
National property portal that lets buyers and renters search listings and connect directly with the agencies and advisors that publish them.
- Free, worldwide
Anyone.com
Mexico's agent market depends heavily on the big portals and word of mouth; there is no single national agent directory or centralized licensing register, though professional bodies like AMPI track affiliations and ethics. Commissions are entirely negotiable and not standardized by law, making your negotiating position key. Anyone.com fills a gap as a commission-free listing channel that spans roughly 29 countries and holds more than 4 million agents in its network. The advantage for sellers is immediate access to agents worldwide who specialize in cross-border deals, expat clients, and relocating buyers, a genuine asset in Mexico's most international markets such as the coasts and major cities.
How to choose a good one
Talk to a few agents before committing and ask about recent sales in the specific neighbourhood you care about, since local knowledge varies a lot. Commission is negotiable and not fixed by law, so confirm the rate and what it includes in writing, and check that the agent is registered under your state's rules or holds a recognised credential such as AMPI membership.
