Find a local agent

Find and compare a real estate agent in New Zealand

In New Zealand, sellers and buyers often find an agent through property portals, local agency branches, and word of mouth, then narrow the field using agent review and comparison sites. The Real Estate Authority's public register lets anyone confirm an agent holds a current licence before signing up.

Where to find and compare agents in New Zealand

  • The Real Estate Authority (REA) public register

The official government regulator's page links to the public register where you can check whether an agent or agency holds a current licence and whether any complaints have been upheld against them in the last three years.

  • RateMyAgent

A reviews and ratings site that lets you search agents by area and compare verified client reviews and recent sales history, with each review tied to a specific property transaction.

  • OneRoof Find an Agent

The find-an-agent section of the OneRoof property portal lets you search agents by location and view profiles showing metrics such as properties sold and average sale price.

  • AgentIQ

A free comparison tool that ranks and compares local agents using tracked sales results and vendor reviews, and includes fee and appraisal information to support a decision.

How to choose a good one

Interview two or three agents, ask about recent sales of similar properties in your suburb, and confirm their licence status on the REA public register. Commission and marketing fees are negotiable, so compare what each agent quotes and what is included before you sign an agency agreement.

. Agent directories and fees change, so confirm current details on each site.
